We always love getting to this point in our air show season, Miramar really remains the air show to beat all shows. This year's event highlighted the Centennial of Naval Aviation and featured a massive flightline full of more static displays than we have seen all year. With everything from helicopters to Hornets and Hellcats to Harriers, there was truly a wide variety of aircraft on hand from just about every era of Naval and Marine Corps Aviation.
The boys and I really enjoyed getting into the cockpit one of the Harriers and a Super Stallion Helicopter, with personal tours of each it wasn't just fun, but educational too.
We made it out to the show with many of our good friends from the American Aeronautical Foundation and did what we could to lend a hand filming and prepping the B-25 to fly in the show.
The mornings were pretty foggy, but cleared in plenty of time for flying. The majority of the same performers you have come to know from Miramar shows past were on hand to take part in the flying festivities. Some of the acts included the Silver Wings Wing Walkers, Sean D. Tucker in his Oracle Challenger biplane, John Collver flying his AT-6 SNJ War Dog, our favorite B-25 Executive Sweet, plenty of Hornets, Super Hornets, Harriers and of course the fan favorite United States Navy Blue Angels.
Not to be out done, the always amazing Marine Corps MAGTF demonstration
featuring a massive mach battle full of soldiers, tanks, explosions, jet fighters and a Marine Corps Air Assault with every kind or helicopter and jet fighter the Marines have to field took center stage. I love watching the MAGTF, this is a truly unique demo that we only get to see at Miramar and really gives the public a glimpse of how all these resources can be used together in a combat scenario.
In any case, as always, we have many shots of all this in our individual galleries, so be sure to have a look around and let us know what you think. As always we are glad to bring the show to you, but if you have the opportunity, Miramar is one that is not to be missed. See you there!
