This was our first time at Lemoore to photograph an airshow and Lemoore's first air show in sevn years. We can't imagine a better reason to get back into the air show business than the 100th anniversary of United States Naval Aviation. Upon arriving at Lemoore it doesn't take long to realize that this is U.S. Navy "Hornet Country". While many of the normal residents were out at sea at the time of the show, there were still a lot of F-18s of all types around the base.
We really had a great time at this one, we flew up with our fellow AAF crew members, manning the B-25 for the weekend for photo flights and the air show. It's always nice to be part of the show, but any time we get the chance, it really is all about the flying. While a majority of the air to air images will be released later in a current book project we are working on, we have gone ahead and added a few of them to our galleries here for you to enjoy now.
As far as the air show flying for AAF and Executive Sweet, we paired up with the P-51D, F8F and A-6M Zero from the CAF and treated the crowd to an awesome display of WWII style combat flying, complete with pyro technics and the wall of fire, what a great show!
The Blue Angels as always put on an amazing display all three days with their own special brand of high energy aviation and the show was rounded out with some of Lemoore's own Hornets and Super Hornets.
Aircraft photographed include: B-25J Mitchell "Executive Sweet", P-51D Mustang "Man O' War", F-4U Corsair, F8F Bearcat, A-6M Zero, AT-6 SNJ / Texan, Stearman, FA-18F Super Hornet, FA-18E Super Hornet, FA-18C Hornet, USN Leap Frogs, Blue Angels
